Well known for its hardness and durability, Garnet has a high specific gravity as well as its chemical and abrasive resistance makes garnet an ideal filter media. Garnet effectively removes fine suspended solids due to its angular shape and hardness rating of 6.5-7.5 on the Mohs scale. Its density allows for sharp separation in multi-media filters while requiring minimal backwash water. Chemically inert and non-metallic, it occurs in large sizes for support beds and smaller sizes for cap beds, allowing faster back flushing. Ask for specific sizes.
Silica sand, a processed quartz mineral with a specific gravity of 2.65, provides consistent mechanical filtration through its uniform gradation and angular shape. Its chemical stability and durability make it a cost-effective, reliable choice for water treatment systems.
Anthracite filter media is produced from the highest quality anthracite available to ensure the physical characteristics of hardness, durability and performance. Anthracite typically produces consistent improvements in turbidity removal because, in part, to more efficient solids loading.
